This towns name comes from "nighella" the name of a herb and is situated in the Upper Langhe (Alta Langa)
Situated in the main square is the Parish Church of St Giorgio which dates back to the 1600 and close by is a 17th century former rectory.
The town centre boasts beautiful views across the valley and is surrounded by wild unspoilt landscape where chestnuts, mushrooms and tartufu are regularly found. The area is popular for cycling, trekking, excursions and walking particularly along the 30 km track known as the Sunflower.
The town has shops, bars, a pizzeria, restaurants, and has a local market each week.
Niella Belbo is 785 metres above sea level and has a population of 450.
